my spirit
floats above
glassy waters
where sun
and shade spots
dance
Cast to the Wind

into you
when i look at you
as you look ahead
and my eyes
fall heavy onto you
and i know
you feel me there
but you stay put
and for those few moments
before you turn
i have all of you
for nobody's eyes
will ever look at you
the way mine do
warmth
Days when the heart’s weak wants
Like daisy claws clowning
Under a fallen birch
Fold into themselves
And forget their splendor.
Aye, the days lose fervor
And momentum alone churns the gears
But I, encased in vials of dimpled dairy
Do recall the sounds of summer
When youth like bells rang out amongst the marigolds
And beef sat stewing
For the heat brings the scents and smells
But with it too the laughter of love.

longest night of the year
i cannot believe
how much i feel your absence
to awaken to a bed with ample real estate
means so much less than your warmth
the floors and the seats in this house
spots once occupied by us
drain the strength from my chest
they yearn for touch like me
blankets clumped about
turn to me as if asking where
their daily-perching bird has flown
i'm not sure how to tell them
who thought mornings without you
could ever be this dull
if this is a morning without you
i don't want morning at all

when? oh, now.
all things it seems
happen in time
if they are supposed to
meanwhile we
toil, tussle, tether
beg, barter, buy
crush, consume, create
waiting for the day
when fate showers it's mercy
upon us.
