Child In You

Child In You  (link to song)

They told me once when I was a boy in high school
Always ran my mouth, always had to act the fool
Didn’t wanna think like a square so I broke rules
Lighting shit on fire and dipping in strangers pools

Like a pack of Jolly Ranchers, never would expire
Thought I could settle down one day when I retired
Burnt the candle at both ends and with a endless fire
Always had adventures like when Frodo left the shire

Now they tell me to succeed I gotta get a cut
Button shirt to collar and get all straightened up
I must fly with the wind like a straightened arrow
But like Throreua, I have a need to suck out all life’s marrow

Just like Captain Sparrow or taxi-Driving Dinero
I’m just three doors down and baby I could be your hero
So tell the man I’ll stick it to him when I’m done
But until then I’m gonna continue to have my fun

People walking down the street always look furious
So I crack a giant grin and ask “why so serious?”
“Pipe down good sir! What are you delirious?”
No old man I’m like a cat, I’ll die if I’m not curious

If you’re not expressing your on the path of regressing
I cannot think of anything that is more depressing
Then when a man wastes his life on sticks, and stones, and stressing
Cuz then he’s broken all his bones, without his father’s blessing

When the babe escapes the womb he’s got a secret
Holding it in for nine months he will now release it
Its that you must retain your effervescence
Or you’ll reach your dying days, still sitting on the fence
You’ll empty out your pockets, which have become immense
And cry when you notice there’s only a couple cents
Because you spent your life clinging to common sense
And reflect on all the great things you could have been

So in a cliché, live every day like it were your last
But first that may require getting up off your ass
It may be a little intimidating at first glance
To live like a child just not pissing your pants

The one speaking to you is the little child in me
Who brings forth this unending vivacious vitality
Realizing that I sculpt my own reality
And dictate the terms that really make me free

Bring out the child in you
